Welcome to the (still under construction) home of the Nuremberg 2028 Worldcon Bid.
We’re currently building the basics—and over the next two weeks you’ll see more and more appear here: details about our bid, the team behind it, our venue, and the ideas we’re excited to share. We’re building this site in public, the same way we plan to build a Worldcon: openly, clearly, and with full transparency.
Some key facts about the Nuremberg bid
Nuremberg is a major travel destination—a city with layered history, from medieval castles to the Nazi Rally Grounds, offering a striking panorama of German history and its many “possible timelines.” It’s also a city of surprises: one of Europe’s largest comic shops, the Zukunftsmuseum (Future Museum), great beer gardens—and even the original print of what’s often described as the first UFO sighting, housed in one of Germany’s major cultural museums.
Our venue is the Nuremberg Trade Fair grounds: connected, flexible conference centers that can scale to host a Worldcon with 4,000 to 10,000 members.
Getting here is easy (and often affordable). Accommodation options include a planned hotel cluster (close together and about 10 minutes from the venue), a hostel at the Imperial Castle, and a camping ground right in front of the venue.
If successful, this would be the second Worldcon in Germany.
We’re looking forward to building an amazing bid—and, with your support, maybe an amazing Worldcon.
